To facilitate a constructive detail dialogue between the government and the business community on the new Negative Investment List (DNI), a collectiveeffort between EuroCham, EU Desk at BKPM, and the Indonesia Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM)was executed with a policy briefing on 10 June 2016.
Mrs. Farah Ratnadewi Indriani (Deputy Chairman for Investment Climate Development at BKPM) and Mr. Yuliot (Director of Investment Deregulation at BKPM) presented the new DNI. As explained by Mrs. Farah, the new DNI aims to achieve the target for investment realization and to improve the regulatory framework related to capital investment.
The presentation by the BKPM was followed by a Q&A session moderated by Mr. Daniel Nicholls (Head of the EU Desk at BKPM). EuroCham was represented by Mr. Adrian Short (Vice Chairman of EuroCham), whoapplauded BKPM’s effort for the new DNI. Mr. Adrian Short further stated that a detail dialogue between the BKPM and business community would open more opportunity to work together with EuroCham and the EU Desk.
Participated in the discussion was Mr. Graham Garven (Deputy Head of Tax and Investment Working Group) who mentioned that the new DNI focuses very much on limited liability company (perseroan terbatas). In other words, it sort of limits the scope for foreign parties to open a branch, representative office, or a permanent establishment. Whereas, there are many investors that will be interested to open their business operation with other form of entities other than a limited liability company.
