The Ministry of Environment and Forestry, together with PT HM Sampoerna Tbk, through the umbrella of Sampoerna's sustainability program for Indonesia, invites the public to take action to save the environment through the #PuntungItuSampah program. "This program is Sampoerna's sustainability initiative to provide an understanding to the community about the importance of disposing of butts responsibly," said Sampoerna's Head of External Relations, Ishak Danuningrat, in a written statement in Jakarta, Saturday (28/11).

The #PuntungItuSampah initiative is one of the company's commitments to reduce environmental damage through concrete and measurable actions. This program was initiated to increase public awareness, especially adult smokers, about the importance of disposing of garbage in its place to reduce butts that pollute the environment. He added that his party is actively working with various parties, both from the government, the community that loves and cares about the environment, and the wider community to support environmental sustainability.

The Head of the Sub-Directorate of Goods and Packaging of the Waste Management Directorate of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Ujang Solihin Sidik, said the alignment of the initiatives carried out by private companies and partners was under regulations launched by Ministry Regulation No. 75 of 2019 regarding waste reduction by producers.

"The government appreciates Sampoerna's efforts in tackling its post-consumer waste. The problem of waste in Indonesia is still a matter of behavior. This step is a good initiative and needs to be supported by all elements of society, "said Ujang.
