On 6 October, the Provincial Government of Central Java together with the Central Java Offices of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the Ministry of Industry, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources witnessed the virtual inauguration of the Solar Power Plant (PLTS) Rooftop on Danone-AQUA factory in Klaten, Central Java. The solar photovoltaic (PV) rooftop, developed, built, and operated by Total Solar Distributed Generation (DG) Southeast Asia is currently the biggest in Central Java initiated by the Industry. With a capacity of 2,919 kWp (kilowatt peak), it produces 4 GWh (Gigawatt hour) of electricity per year and cuts 3,340 tons of carbon emissions per year.

The virtual event was attended by the Governor of Central Java, Ganjar Pranowo, the President Director of Danone Aqua, Corine Tap, Director of Various New and Renewable Energy, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Haris Yahya; and Secretary of the Directorate General of Agro Industry, Emil Satria, the inauguration also marked the one-year anniversary of the Central Java Provincial Government’s pledge to become the first solar province in Indonesia. The province, which is geographically situated in the equatorial zone at 10° south latitude, has a solar radiation intensity of 3.5 kWh/m²/ day - 4.67 kWh/m²/day, which makes the areas within Central Java ideal for the installation of the solar power plants.
