EU & Indonesia: For Successful UN Climate Summit and a Green Transition

EuroCham had the opportunity to jointly collaborate in an event organized by the Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia (FPCI), the European Union Delegation in Indonesia, and the Indonesian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) entitled, “European Union and Indonesia: Towards a Successful UN Climate Summit and Partnership for Green Transition.” The forum was conducted virtually on 19 October 2021 and featured H.E. Frans Timmermans, the European Union Executive Vice President who was visiting Jakarta. Moderated by the Founder and Chairman of FPCI, Dr. Dino Patti Djalal, this forum discussed Indonesia’s and the European Union’s climate leadership ahead of the Climate Summit (COP26) to held in Glasgow in November.

The role of stakeholders in dealing with the climate crisis was also discussed interactively by EuroCham who were represented by Julien Steimer (Chairman of EuroCham), Wichard von Harrach (Vice Chairman of EuroCham), and Vera Galuh Ukraina (Executive Boards Member of EuroCham). EuroCham actively engaged in the discussion and conveyed its concerns as well as views of European businesses in Indonesia in regards to the climate ambition.
