Energy Working Group Meeting

On 20 May 2020, the EuroCham Energy Working Group monthly meeting was led by Thomas Wagner (Head of EuroCham Energy Working Group). This meeting invited several speakers to present including David Lutman, Mike Crosseti, and Iwan Adhisaputra from British Embassy Jakarta who shared the Upcoming Bilateral Renewable Energy Program, called MENTARI (Menuju Transisi Energi Rendah Karbon Indonesia).

The MENTARI Program aims to deliver inclusive economic growth and poverty reduction in Indonesia, by supporting the uptake of low carbon energy. It has a specific focus on developing the low carbon energy sector to best support disadvantaged communities, and specifically those in eastern Indonesia. By working closely with the Government of Indonesia and other stakeholders to improve the enabling environment and drive investment, the MENTARI Program will demonstrate the possibilities of low carbon energy for Indonesia's economic development, job creation and social inclusion, while helping to mitigate climate and environmental impacts.

Automotive Working Group

The Automotive Working Group conducted a meeting on 20 May 2020. Chaired by the Head of Working Group, Daniel Purba from Mercedes Benz, the meeting discussed four topics. Three of them are related to the government's response to the COVID-19 pandemic in the context of impact to the automotive sector, including the recently launched Fiscal and Non-Fiscal Stimulus, Dispensation Permit for Industry Operations during COVID-19 Emergency, and Transportation Control During the Eid Al-Fitr 2020 Religious Holiday.

Another topic discussed was Updates on Implementation of the DG Land Transport Regulation on the Mandatory Fire Extinguisher. This meeting specifically shared information about the postponement of the implementation to 4 January 2021. In addition, Daniel also conveyed a number of advocacy efforts undertaken by the Group related to these regulations. The group played an active role in providing input to help the government to accelerate recovery as the Automotive sector has been badly affected by the COVID-19.
