On 28 June 2019, Mr. Christoph Liesche as a Director of Public & Government Affairs of Fresenius Medical Care met Mr. Samuel Siahaan (Executive Director of EuroCham) to discuss about the current issue of pharmaceutical industry in Indonesia. Fresenius Medical Care is the world’s largest provider of products and service for individual with renal disease of which more than 3 million patients worldwide regularly undergo dialysis treatment. Along with its core business, the company focuses on expanding of additional medical services, particularly in Indonesia. In this regard, the company is taking steps to for expansion and establishment of more clinics in Indonesia and explore possibilities to be more active in supporting EuroCham’s advocacy activities.

EuroCham and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) held a small discussion on Investment Policy in Indonesia. The meeting took place at EuroCham Office on 26 June 2019 and shared latest updates on the preparation of the second OECD Investment Policy Review of Indonesia, which is currently being developed at the request of the government. The OECD Investment Policy Review present an assessment of the investment climate and investment-related policies in the countries under review. The review also suggests ways to address obstacles and design sound policies to improve the investment environment. The first review of Indonesia was conducted in 2009-2010 and recent OECD reviews in the region include Vietnam, Lao PDR and Cambodia.

This meeting collected inputs on investment and business environment issues to enrich the second study, especially related to FDI establishment/restrictions and operations; Licensing procedures; and Responsible investment and sustainable development (corporate social responsibility).
