On Friday, 29 October 2021, a taxation sub-group within the Transport and Logistics Working Group organized a meeting to specifically exchange the latest developments on taxation related topics within the freight forwarding industry. The meeting was chaired by the Deputy of the Working Group, Halim Sugyanto (CFO of DB Schenker), who announced that this meeting was his last meeting as the Deputy of the Working Group as he is stepping down from the position. The meeting also invited Susy Suryani and Faozan Efendi from the Suryani Suyanto & Associates (SSA) as external speakers to highlight the main changes of the new law on harmonization of tax regulation in its relation with freight forwarding business. The Group specifically discussed the possible changes in practice of VAT collection for international freight, as a consequence of a tariff increase by the new law.

On 28 October 2021, EuroCham was invited by the Customs Main Office to a socialization event on export licensing for agarwood products and forestry products. This event invited two key speakers from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, namely Oki Hadiyati (Head of Section for Import-Export Licensing of the Directorate of Forestry Product Marketing and Management), and Daniwari Widiyanto (Head of Section for Plant and Wildlife Distribution of the Directorate of Genetic and Species Biodiversity Conservation). The event provided an opportunity to better understand import-export requirements for the specific products in its relation with customs procedures.
